Have posted this poem elsewhere before, but always get a chuckle rereading it, so thought I'd share it here. And I wonder how many people actually DO love their jobs. I'm sure we've all heard the stats on how many people hate their jobs, which, considering how many hours they consume, is really sad. But what would a job worthy of loving look like anyway? Interesting and challenging but not unduly stressful, compensated fairly, and good people to work both with, and for. Hmmm, I've had some of these elements in all jobs, but not all elements in even one job. Too much to ask? Ah, one of these days I'll figure out what work would suit me best. Unless I hit retirement age first, snort.
How about you? Have you ever had paid work that you loved? Or figured out what elements you need in order to love a job? Or is loving your job a luxury these days that most people just can't afford? What do you think?

Ha ha!! Good to see this again! ... I agree with your assessment of what a love-worthy job would be. I've never had one, not a paid one. And sadly enough there has been stress at my beloved volunteer job due to people sometimes, but overall it's great. I used to think that anything I love would be ruined by "having" to do it, but I know that I would still love what I do now even if I 'had' to do it. What would ruin it is if I had to start working with co-workers on a regular basis instead of being mostly on my own with the cats. The cats agree with me on that, btw. ;) Snort!

I hear ya. I used to joke that jobs would be fine if you didn't have bosses, co-workers, clients or customers, but I can't seem to find one of those, snort. Plus, if I'm having trouble working with people, maybe it's me and not them? Ack! And maybe too just as there is no perfect job, perhaps you can only love parts of a job and not the whole thing.
