Just as I had no interest in joining Facebook, I do not intend to become a Twitterite (if that's even a term). I don't see the appeal, which I guess, is no surprise given that I don't text, instant message, YouTube, use a smart phone (maybe I'm too stupid?), or even have a simple cell phone. Yep, no cell phone. Call me an old fart (come on, you know you want to), but I hate the damn things. Sure, they're good for at home, emergencies and the odd occasional relay of important information when you're out in public, but do we have to be connected ALL the time? Can people not shop for groceries without being in consultation with a significant (or insignificant) other? Can one not use a bus without informing some faceless being at the other end the exact location two minutes before stepping off? Bah! I'm sick of it all. And when will social networking fatigue set in? I know, I know, I blog and Flickr, so in a way I'm being hypocritical here, but still.
As for the Twitter question "What are you doing?" I say, who cares? I don’t particularly want to "follow" or be "followed" (I'm not doing anything THAT interesting most of the time), and I bet I'm not the only one who feels "Enough already!"
And what, you may be asking, did that have to do with personal finance? Probably nothing, but it's my blog, so I can whine write about what I want, snort.

I've been invited to join Facebook by a few people and I'm not doing it either. Zero interest and I'm too private a person anyway. I've checked out Twitter once and it was so confusing - I didn't even try to do it, just tried to read what was going on and I was so confused. It didn't seem fun at all to me. Or interesting. I do have a cell phone, but I only use it for emergencies (the bicycle accident for one) or if I need help understanding something and have to call Nick to translate. And as for the personal finance connection, you should see how much it costs per minute to talk on the things!

Ha ha, I didn't think about the cost of cell phones.
As for Twitter, yeah, you're limited in the number of characters you can post (140 I think), so it wouldn't do very well for wordy types like me, LOL. But as an introvert who prefers things in-depth as opposed to skimming the surface, I wonder if applications like Twitter would have more appeal for extraverts? Hmmm.

I couldn't even follow the "conversation". It (Twitter) was literally more confusing to me than trying to communicate in German with Germans who don't speak English. For me, it wasn't about the limited words, it was that I had no idea who was saying what and the quotes came in such a weird order that they made no sense. ... Anyway, you have yet another email in your in-box from me. And now, I really AM going to start dinner. And yell at a few loud neighbors while I'm at it! The "snort" that belongs here, goes without saying. :)

Ah, neighbours. Sure Maxine would have a few choice words about that! ;)
I was thinking more about Twitter etc., and I believe what got me going on about it is seeing how just about every site has jumped on the social media networking bandwagon and it seems like they're ALL using Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, and it's like you're supposed to be a follower now, and of course I can't stand that, snort.
