Did ya win????? :) ... I had never even thought of your idea to cap the award and have several draws. Interesting. I used to play Powerball a very long time ago. Nick plays lotto here, but not too much (that I know of!). You have a lot of interesting points here and since I've never thought about it much, I don't have any well-formed ideas of my own. My mother does, though. She is SO against any kind of gambling...everything from lottery tickets to bingo to (GASP) a casino...anything in any way gambling is to her a sin because she was raised to believe that. I've been to a few casinos and boy, I could see myself getting into trouble possibly if I went regularly. But I've only been a handful of times. As for the lottery, I think your ideas are good. If we won though, I'd sure rather have $35 million than $1 million. I'd do something good with the money, though. Buy a house and adopt from the shelter only old cats who no one wants so they can live out their lives in peace. But don't tell Paula about that plan! ;) If she knew, she'd start plotting ways to make my death look like an accident. Ha ha!

think outside the piggy bank

Yeah, if I won that type of money I'd likely set aside a million for myself, friends and family, and then figure out how to put the remaining 34 million to best use. I'd start up some kind of non-profit foundation for sure, pick causes close to my heart (you know which kind!) and make huge (but anonymous) donations, and then try to set up some kind of system where I can help others help themselves. But what I'd do first is not tell anyone I'd won (except maybe a family member I trust) until I had a handle on exactly what I want to do with the money, because otherwise you have all kinds of folk approaching you. It's better to have a plan in place first methinks!

Yeah, I never understand those people who come forward in press conferences after they win. I think that's a bad idea....for so many reasons. And there is no law that says you have to come forward, either. So why do it?

think outside the piggy bank

Exactly. Apparently the guy who won the $35 million immediately bought a 2009 convertible, and then went to WalMart for shoes.
Go figure.

God love him.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
