I totally feel this way!!! I've had cashiers make mistakes with my transactions before while gabbing to one another, and one time, I totally had to rip the guy a new one because he was TALKING ON HIS DAMN CELL PHONE AND SCREWED UP MY TRANSACTION!!!!

I also feel that no matter how little you make, or how insignificant you feel your job is, you still are getting paid and dealing with customers, so you need to take it 100% seriously.

I haven't had it happen often that the cashier is talking to a co-worker or friend, etc. while they are doing my check-out. My reason for not liking that would be that they could likely make a mistake - NOT in my favor, no doubt. But as for people on cell-phones everywhere.....I HATE THAT!!!!! And it is EVERYWHERE!!!!

I agree, Southshoregirl. When I was in retail years ago, the rule was that the customer came first, and that you parked your personal and social life at the door. Boy, times sure have changed!

Krissa, unfortunately I find that clerks talking to each other is the norm rather than the exception. I have a funny cell-phone story though. Was called the other night by a telemarketer about my cell-phone use/habits, and he was so floored when he found out that I didn't have one that he didn't know how to respond! He was actually dead silent for almost a minute because I guess he had just not encountered that situation before. It amused me highly of course, snort.

HA HA HA!!!! Can't you just wait until you get the telemarketing survey call about your cable or satellite tv use/habits? That's gonna be another long pause on the other end of the line, eh? Too funny!
